Distributed computing is not goofy. {8-]

It has been done. Scott Kurowski's company,
Entropia.com did it a few years ago. As I recall,
the conditions under which the human player
agreed to the game included secrecy as to
the outcome, so I question the value of the
exercise in demonstrating distributed computing
to play chess. I dont know if such a stunt has
been done in the public domain.

We have been imagining this for years.
The more interesting question may be with regard
to Eliezer's notions of inherent latency of a network.
How much does it hurt the virtual supercomputer to need
to distribute packets of information? Will a meganode
gigahz virtual supercomputer outperform a traditional
kilo-processor Deep Blue style supercomputer? Would
it not be more entertaining to play supercomputer vs
virtual metasupercomputer?
