I can, but not right away. Im in a temporary
Burchian busy time in the career.

As it turns out, the Hutu-Tutsi civil war more
or less eliminated the dilemma. After the dust settled,
there were stong accusations that the local SDA
conference presidente participated in orchestrating
the slaughter of Hutus. It is said he offered a couple
hundred refugees santuary on SDA property, then turned
them over to the soldiers, resulting in their demise.

Whispered rumor has it that El Presidente fled to America
and was hiding somewhere in Texas. Further rumor had it
that the churches built with American money using Western
building technologies were systematically dismantled and
stolen, so thoroughly that later inspectors were unable to
even locate the former sites of said church buildings. In
America we steal cars. In Africa, they steal buildings.

Burundian and Rwandan SDA membership plummeted to where
the church leaders had a hard time even locating *any*
members after the war. This was in an area where before
the genocide, one in nine persons were supposedly SDA.
Interpretation of the events is left to the interested
reader.

Specific information on these shameful incidents are
hard to find. True, balanced accounts may *never*
be written.
