       I don't think anyone has maintained anything other than what you are
saying about the majority of deaths being from disease. If you want
documentation on that fact please read Guns, Germs & Steel which we
referenced here a few days ago.
       Also while I am sure that racism was present there was another motive
present that we must not forget -- hunger. In Germany in the earrly 18th
century and later in the mid 18th century there was famine, I believe due to
war. The people were so desperate to get out they sold themselves into
slavery to for a boat ticket.
