Yes, I partially misspoke due to being a bit overwrought by the
current madness. But I didn't overstate by much. At the least
it is certainly not the case that Israel is mainly in the right
and the Palestinians and some Arab neighbors mainly in the
wrong. My apologies and a bit of history:
1947 Britain gage up mandate to UN which suggested two states.
1948 David Ben-Gurion declared foundation of state of Israel
Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan invaded but were beaten back.
1949: Jews in Isrel had secured an extended the area proposed by
the UN taking some land set aside for Palestinians
1956 President Nasser came to power in Egypt and integrated its
armies without those of Syria and nationalized the European
owned Suez canal. Israle joined with Britain and France and
invaded the Sinai peninsula. International pressure forced
Israelis to give up the Sinai and the UK and France to remove
their troops from the Suez canal
1964 PLO was founded. After the 6 day war it reformed under
Yasser Arafat. Vowed to recliam their land and destroy the
state of Israel.
1967 Six day war. Small scale hostilities between Israel and it
s neighbors continued. On June 5 1967 Israel launched a
preemptive strike against all troops on its borders
During the six day war Israel seized the Sinai (again), the
Golan Heights from Syria, the West Bank and the Old City of
Jerusalem from Jordan. Negotiations have centered around a
return to pre-67 borders ever since
1973 Yom Kippur war. Syria and Egypt launched a surprise attack
on the Israeli held land. Israel held the territory gained in
the Six Day War.
1979 Egypt signed mutual recognition pact with Israel and the
Sinai was returned to Egypt
1981 Israel formally annexed the Golan Heights. During the
early 80s establishment of Jewish setlltemnts on Palestinian
land in the West Bank continued systematically
1982 In response to terrorist attacks on northern towns, Israel
invaded Lebanon as far north as Beirut. In 1985 Israel withdrew
from most of Lebanon but maintained a 'secuirty zone' along the
border policed by Israeli soldiers. Syria stationed troops in
Lebanon
1987 The Palestinians of the West Bank and Gaza launched the
Intfada (popular uprising) against Israeli occupation.
1993 The Oslo Accords were agreed with provided for mutual
recognition betwe the PLO and state of Israel and limited
Palestinian self rule in the West Bank and Gaza. Jordan signed
a peace deal with Israel
2000 Israel withdrew completely from southern Lebanon ending
nearly 20 years of occupation. But the withdrawal turned to
chaos when Hizbullah guerilla forces harrassed the retreating
Israelis.
Oct 2000 Violence flares acros West Bank and Gaza after Sharon
makes provocative visit to a very sacred mosque compound. PA
police trade fire with Israeli soldiers. Many killed, hundereds
injured. Most of the casualities are Arab.
Feb 2001 Sharon defeats Barak. Israel responds ever more
severely to Palestinian attacks. After 9/11 violence escalated
as Israeli leaders talked of their own "war on terrorism". A
wave of Palestinian suicide bombers killed many Israelis.
Mar 2002 Sharon respond with military occupation of the West Bank.

And Sharon and many others in the Israeli cabinet are on record
as considering the Palestinians to be subhuman and to be run
completely out of Israel or killed.

What are you talking about? Snitching what country's territory?
Is the an accusation against the Palestinians? What
indefensible borders? Israel has not only defended them but on
several occassions over the above history, drastically extend
them.
