FAITH: perhaps oversold

Some of us may be familiar with claims that "remote" prayer
may be capable of "healing".

The December issue of Wired has a *very* revealing and strange
(as in "its *too* wierd to be true") article about Dr. Elisabeth
Targ and the studies involving the "authoritative" claims
on remote prayer contributing to healing.

The bottom line is that it appears that the statistics were
somewhat cooked and it managed to get past the journal reviewers.

It seems safe to say that one can assert that it is unproven
that prayer helps at this point.

On the other hand, the NY Times is touting
"Power of Positive Thinking Extends, It Seems, to Aging"
