Zounds! gts agrees to level six??? This is rather amazing. To
recap, here are the levels again:
1. Will travel by space warp, but won't permit disassembly of atoms.
2. Will permit teleportation, but only if the same atoms are used.
3. Will teleport, unless there is a delay.
4. Will teleport, but finds backups to be useless.
5. Finds backups acceptable, provided that they've had no run time.
6. Anticipates future experiences of duplicates, but only one in
particular.
7. Logically, but not necessarily emotionally, anticipates all
experiences of all duplicates past or future, near or far.
Let's talk just about level five. At level 5, you enter a
warehouse, figuratively speaking, and look at your backup
on ice. You agree, for suitable monetary reward, to be
disintegrated so that your backup can go deposit the money.
You anticipate *being* that person tomorrow when he or she
deposits the money.
Level five is equivalent to surrendering some recent
memories for suitable reward. I will part with last
month's memories for $500,000 (or maybe less, but to
wax Churchillian, it has been established what I am).
It takes balls, at least among us gents, to accept level five.
I haven't seen anyone recently, except Rafal, speak in a way
that convinces me he or she believes in level 5.

P.S. Eugen Leitl points out that as he opposes forks (by
definition each fork gets run time), levels 4 and 5 can be
acceptable to one even though level 3 is not. I may have
to rearrange the levels because of this. Thanks, Gene.
