I expect that police agencies will respond to this threat to their
ability to control crime scenes by deploying wireless networking
jammers on squad cars, which only allow authorized police units the
ability to transmit wirelessly.
This wouldn't be difficult to do using packet manipulation techniques,
where unauthorized packets get their data stripped or scrambled.
I will also note that it seems that the ubiquitous surveillance society
in Britain is now the highest crime society in the western world. The
crime rate is now 55 per 100 population, annually, in London, according
to British newspapers, and, just as ubiquity in cameras hasn't halted
crime, the nationwide ban on gun posession has resulted in skyrocketing
gun crime rates. The Gun Control Network, the Brit equivalent of the
Brady Campaign (formerly Handgun Control Inc.), the foremost proponent
of the post-Dunblane gun ban, now claims that they never said that the
ban would reduce crime (an easily provable lie).
I think the current situation in Britain thus easily disproves two of
the most insidious assertions I've opposed on this list in recent
years: that Transparent Societies and Gun Control are good things that
reduce crime. They both actually result in increased crime. I hope this
now means that we can state, as a tautological and undebatable fact,
that I, and a number of other list members, are right, and that we
should no longer have to deal with the idiotic assertions of others to
the contrary on this list.
