I`m on the list for a while but I certainly don`t have the time to read all the threads. So time and again I`m wrestling with these abbreviations.
Well, I cannot expect that everyone writes down the full meaning of some abbreviations he thinks are common basic knowledge, terms you encounter in daily life if you are an American citizen but will leave you puzzled if you live in another country and speak a different language.
If you ask Google for abbreviations you will often be mislead. You won`t believe how many possible meanings some three letter words have. I think I will give it a try and collect some unknown items I will encounter in the future and post them to the list, hoping one or two people find the time to shed light on their meaning. I am pretty sure that a lot of newbies would benefit from such a three-letter-word database on the ExI website or some alternative webspace. Not *everybody* here is an expert in electronics, quantum physics, computer science, sociology and medieval languages at the same time just to mention any combination.

Hubert -
I'm happy to oblige, but I expect that most people would simply query the great Google and get a more complete explanation. These are Myers-Briggs personality classifications, extensively discussed on this list a while back.

Why then, do we so often feel disconnected?<<<
Jef, I give you a simple example: the four letter words INTJ / ENTJ don't mean anything to me. When I read a posting I find interesting and stumble across two or three of those abbreviations I am frustrated and don`t get the message. It could be a measure of politeness to write those words out for the sake that everybody knows what you mean. Of course it is a matter of knowledge acquiring. Maybe some volunteers canl set up a website for an abbreviation database so all or at least the most common three-or-four-letter-words in extropy traffic can be listed and in the course of time nobody must have a bad conscience anymore to use abbreviations. Whenever there are a few minutes of spare time you can upload a couple of terms to that website. Just a proposal that would really pay off.
