>It is rather odd to hear these views propagated on the "extropians"- list, and you might wonder why I reply them. Unfortunately, it is because I think that they are very represetative of the transhumanist movement today.<

Mr. Inghdahl,

With all due respect, from time to time you post to this list with a commentary revealing disdain for what you consider to be a lifestyle and personality trait of others who happen to be on this list. Unfortunately, it seems that such is raked together like a pile of withering leaves. While you may think your particular focus is pursued with a wide-angle lens the shutter may be closed.

I realize that part of your aim is to promote transhumanism in Sweden and also work toward the larger goal of enriching the international transhumanist community. I also realize that Anders is someone who, by his very person brings warmth and intelligence wherever he passes, considers a similar vein -- however with a welcoming and respect. Anders does not bombast us with trailings of angst. Criticism is essential in transformation, so it’s not your repeated criticisms that are bothersome. It is the leap from a hovering lawn chair pointing fingers at others with whom you may not know or have a clear understanding of. Certainly there is relevance in your views but not continuity and such seem to be big pigeonholes for quick-hit-targets.

Your angst is no larger or wiser than my own as I have revealed over and over again. Culture does not consist solely of technology and there is indeed a trans”humane” element missing in many spheres. But what is troublesome to me is that you do not discuss or reference the many milestones accomplished in this regard. Rather, you seem to suggest that “we” are one can minus when it comes to compassion and understanding of humanity. This is entirely false.

Unless and until you do your research carefully and comprehensively you will continue to miss the ideas behind transhumanity and the culture itself.

Sincerely,

Natasha Vita-More
