Real Age
Are you as Young as you can Be?
44 Scientifically proven Steps that delay Aging
Michael F. Roizen M.D.
ISBN 0-06-019134-1
Did you Know that:
* Financial stress can make your RealAge 2 to 32 years older?
* The difference between having the ideal blood pressure 115/76-and
high blood pressure-higher than 140/90 can make a RealAge
difference of more than 20 years?
This is another excellent health book, (also a website
www.realage.com) This book would be an excellent primer for
extropians. Here are his recommendations for vitamins/minerals:
Vitamin C: 600 mg supplement plus 5 servings fruit/vegetables to
total 1250 mg/day keep it less than 2000mg.
Vitamin E: 400 I.U (I take 800).
Vitamin A: do not take more than 8000 I.U.
Calcium: 1000-1200 mg a day 1200 for female extropians.
Vitamin D: 400 I.U supplement 600 I.U if your over 70.
Folate: 400 mcg (that' micrograms not milligrams). to battle the
evil homocysteine.
On the subject of protein he recommends no more than 20% of daily
total calories or about 7 ounces a day. You may want to add a
couple while your weightlifting, but only on days you lift.
Excessive protein can cause kidney problems and leach calcium from
bones.
He puts the typical calorie requirements for a 200 pounder at 2160
Kcal a day, he recommends 3500 Kcal a week of exercise.
A truly excellent book, it even was a #1 New York Times Bestseller.
Dr Roizen is on staff here at the University of Chicago hospitals,
I may have to look him up.
