Actually, I just heard a vague reference today on the radio to the effect
that a recent law is denying social security benefits to legal immigrants
unless they become citizens. Immigrants who have been here decades, and
paid into the system, but never got citizenship because they either never
got around to it or had some emotional attachemnt to their homeland. This
would certainly explain a glut of elderly people seeking citizenship.
Is this true? Does anyone know?
