Ditto.

My understanding is that some cultures.....American Indian in
particular......had childhood names and then ........upon adulthood....an
adult name. Popular wisdom has it that the adult name had something to do
with that individuals characteristic one way or another....

Even today......to a lesser extent......such naming is existant. For
example....on the CB there are "handles" (I'm Lobo by the way).......and on
the internet ......particularly in Chatrooms there are ScreenNames (in some
of which I am LoboTruck)........

Possibly this self nameing reflects a real or imagined characteristic......
