I understand that regions of heavier than usual dust have been observed at
Earth L4 and L5.
And of course we have the ACE and SOLO sats at Earth L1 watching the solar
wind, and TRIANA (Earth climate mission) will go there when NASA can be
bothered, and the Next Generation Space Telescope will be placed at L2,
behind the Moon, and I think the Microwave Anisotropy Probe is there now.
Due to the gravitational instability, they need to tweak their orbits now
and then; besides, they tend to be on halo-orbit of the L1 point, so the
Sun doesn't block out their messages home.
