One reason that convergence occurs in many people's lives is
that we live in very stable circumstances. In western countries,
for example, one has to go back to World War II to see real
upheaval. I project that severe changes would also tend to
cause changes in political outlook. As a quick example, if
we lived in small space colonies that were constantly under
threat of war from each other, our sentiments and thoughts
might very well evolve in the direction that the typical
Israeli's have.
