Is this a troll for flames?
If not, speaking simply, I'm not sure there is an Extropian position on auras.
My personal position is that they fall near the category of "interesting if
true".
But I'm afraid that's a pretty wide-mouthed and rather shallow bin.
I have a hypothesis that people see auras when the brain is in a state
conducive to seeing them. I am not at all sure that, e.g., Kirlian
photography is anything more than coincidentally resemblant to that, nor am
I sure what auras "mean".
In at least one case in my personal awareness of the subject, what someone
described as a aura sounded a bit like what I'd guess could have been
chromatic aberration in his eyes' lens-cornea-fluid system: red fringe on
one side, blue on the other.
On the other hand (pun intended), I had a martial arts teacher who saw red
zones near where his sparring partner's limbs were likely to move in the
next moment. And he sparred *good*. :)
Perhaps auras are hunches being processed in part by, and reported by,
elements of the visual processing system. That's my working hypothesis.
Zetetically yours,
