But do all subjects of a given government deserve the same? That's
weird; they have nothing else in common (except perhaps language - in
very small island nations like Iceland).
Since people are different in every respect, I assume they "deserve"
different governments. And even if a government happens to be better
than the majority deserve[*], there's still a minority who deserve
better still; why not pity them?
[* I agree with certain economists that the perverse incentives of
voting tend to give most of us worse than we deserve.]
