Seriously, I don't think he really sees the great use of television as a
tool in international politics; he gives me the impression of a
traditional arab-socialist tactician rather than a modern media
manipulator. External threats doesn't really worry him, since they
provide the necessary threat to hold together his own regime. It is a
bit like Mugabe: it doesn't matter if your people starve and the economy
goes down the drain, as long as you can stuff your pockets and keep
everybody in line. :-(
