Here ya go: we discussed this about a year ago. Any
hotel room you stay in might have a hidden camera.
I was impressed by a real-life crime show I saw last
week where they hid a camera in a hotel room where a
perp was trying to hire an undercover agent to slay
his wife. The perp was looking around for hidden
cameras. The interesting thing is that *he looked
directly at the camera* for several seconds, and
*still* failed to recognize it.

With that in mind, read on. spike

Hotel Bath: Secret Camera Taped Guest

By Cathryn Conroy, Netscape News Editor
Is someone spying on you in your hotel room? On July 11 Bryan Brewer,
who lives in Ohio and works as the vice president of a California
company, realized that's exactly what happened to him in the Knoxville
Marriott, and this week he filed a $1.5 million lawsuit against the
hotel. Staying in Knoxville, Tennessee on business, Brewer noticed a
tiny black spot on the bathroom light fixture. Assuming it was an
insect, he swatted it, which broke the plastic cover on the light
fixture. So he called the front desk, explained what he done, and
offered to pay for the broken fixture. But while he was waiting for
hotel maintenance to fix the damage, Brewer noticed wires and found a
small video camera.

The Knoxville News-Sentinel reports that a closer look by security
personnel confirmed that it was an elaborate, self-contained, video
recording system. The lawsuit states: "The video camera was connected to
the bathroom light switch such that the camera would begin recording
when the bathroom light was turned on and would stop recording when (it)
was turned off." Brewer's attorney, K.O. Herston, told the News-Sentinel
that the video equipment had a film of dust on it, which indicated it
had been there for sometime. There was also a piece of tape on it with
the room number. The sheriff's department now has the tape and video
equipment. Marriott officials inspected other rooms for video equipment,
but Herston says they have refused to say if anything was found. "How
many other people were taped?" he asked the News-Sentinel.
