Today (September 26, 2002) the Toronto Transhumanist Association hosted a
presentation and discussion on the general theme of “What is Transhumanism?”
This was the first official discussion meeting organized by the TTA, and it
was held at Le Commensal, a vegetarian restaurant in downtown Toronto.
Attendance was excellent with twelve transhumanists participating. John
Leppik moderated the discussion, and Mark Walker delivered his presentation
entitled, “Transhumanism as Platonism.” The ensuing question and discussion
period was lively, provocative, and enlightening. (The meeting finally
broke-up when the restaurant kicked us out at closing time!)

Thanks go out to Mark Walker for presenting, and to John Leppik for
moderating (i.e. controlling) a rather excited and energetic group! And
thanks to everyone who came and participated. This will be the first of many
such meetings, so look for invitations to the next one sometime soon.

A reminder: the TTA will be conducting an administrative meeting on
Wednesday October 2. Details to follow shortly.

George Dvorsky
