The usual way: check with independent sources. There were apparently no
love lost between many of the UN peacekeepers and the US forces in that
conflict, but the UN people would also support the claim the US
intervened on behalf of the Muslims. Of course, an even better way would
be to just ask the muslims in the regions themselves.
