It is a race/subculture which is fascinating to me, and that I really
respect.

Interesting. I sincerely wonder why. While I do respect a person's right
to believe in Judaism (or whatever else they want to believe in from
Astarteism to Zoroastiaism), that's a long way from respecting Judaism
itself. Let's just say I'm ecumenical about all religions - I dislike them
all!

As people Jews are as varied as anyone else - and Judaism itself varies from
ultra-conservative to all-out liberal nontheistic. To begin with (although
admittedly there are other criteria), my respect for an individual Jewish
person would be dependent on how much that person believed in
supernaturalism - the more supernaturalism, the more lost to me that person
would be. (Have you noticed how extremely religious people begin to
resemble the seriously mentally ill?)

JMO,
Olga
