This is a comment I can agree with. I can understand how 'complete
confidence of the facts' can intersect with self-righteousness. It has
cost me friends and jobs. It always seems it is much easier to go with
the flow, and give in. I don't agree with Brian's position, but can
certainly appreciate that he can be bothered by it himself. In my own
field, I can seem like a smug asshole at times but, perhaps like him, I
feel confident in that what I am saying and doing leads to the right and
correct approach for some issue. I don't know how to resolve this for
myself w/o giving in, and I have seen a lot of friends and colleagues
just give in. The world is full of people who just gave in.
