       I served in the Navy. I enjoyed myself and consider my time well
spent. But there are two thoughts that run through my mind when this sort of
discussion comes up:
1. Someone once told me that about 4% of any general population are
naturally fitted to be warriors. I think trying to explain the motivations
of a warrior to the other 96% of the population is largely a waste of time --
they don't understand, they don't want to understand and they don't intend to
understand -- I say give up the effort. LOL
2. Kipling got it right in a poem whose name I have long since forgotten.
When it is peacetime that 96% don't want to hear about war. When danger is
clearly threatening they will rally around.
