I know this is nitpicky, but saying that someone did a lot of good doesn't refute a claim that he did a lot of evil. What usually happens is that a powerful figure moves the popular imagination, and one side of his actions is amplified, and the other ignored. Frequently which side will even change from decade to decade.
Ford did do a lot of good. He also did a lot of evil. And the fact that some of his more malicious ideas were taken and amplified by a yet more malicious individual shouldn't make his part mean something worse than it was.

P.S.: I'm not really defending Ford. I just don't think that you should paint him with the same brush as the real villians. He was a mixed character, and some of his actions we still can't properly judge. E.g.: Was he one of the movers in the conspiracy to destroy the US transit systems? (I know GM was. I'm not sure about Ford.) If so, was that a good action, or an evil one?
