There's a thin line between pattern recognition and pattern formation.

Crap like that happens all the time. When you tell people about it, they
just sort of stare at you with a slackjawed, blank, uncomprehending
expression on their face. Unless they see you as a threat, in which case
you just get a cold stare tinged with anger and you should be warned
blame is coming your way.

Can't offer any advice, so I'll just go with what Dilbert creator Scott
Adams said today on CNN: "When you don't mind getting fired, work
becomes optional."
