Yeah, I've heard that too, and wonder if it isn't actually more like
pattern forming. Like, did humans use pattern recognition skills to
determine that they had good pattern recognition skills? Seems to me
equally likely that humans used pattern forming skills to determine that
they had good pattern forming skills and then instead called it pattern
recognition so they wouldn't be accused of pattern forming. By yet other
humans who also called their pattern forming skills pattern recognition
skills.
