This whole nightmare scenario can still be avoided if America puts heavy
pressure on Israel to step into line with the various UN requirements,
withdraw from occupied territory, dismantle its illegal settlements &c.

All of the Islamic extremists cite the US support for Israeli excesses
as the reason justifying jihad &c. Take this (legitimate) complaint away
from them and you would find most of the anti-American sentiment
evaporating. It continually amazes me when talking to Americans
that their media has indoctrinated them into not seeing that the USA's blind
support for Israel is the basic issue between USA and the Muslem world.

Iraq may, but probably does not, have nuclear weapons ..... wheras Israel
(another rogue state who continually overstep international law) certifiable
do.
So why no talk of invading Israel to bring about regime change???? And the
argument about "democracy" doesn't cut it because Bush wants Arafat replaced
even though he was fairly elected and has the Palestinian popular mandate.
