    Rafal Smigrodzki:
This raises interesting questions - how did the
topology of the Universe arise from the singularity?
Is the initial condition truly pointlike, or is
it a manifold or other structure with more complex
    spatial organization?

A general, bright and stimulating talk, by P.A.M.
Dirac, about fundamental physical and cosmological
questions is here:
http://www.fdavidpeat.com/interviews/dirac.htm
You can also update the same issue looking at:
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/rajm/agdirac.htm
As you can see as, time passes, the fine structure
constant perhaps changes, yes, but many problems
arise, and the issue becomes fuzzy, and the
impossible quantum retrodiction becomes
perhaps a growing impediment.
