I specifically said in my last post that the desirability or lack thereof of
covert actions would "depend on the specifics"; in the present day a Chinese
adventure of the type you describe would end in fiasco. Fortunately China
well know that and that is the only reason they don't do it.

Absolutely. You can try to do it in a nice way but there is no point in
being powerful if you never use power, those with less power will resent it
but there is nothing new in that.
