"Wha?????? (utter, jaw-dropping amazement)
Well as I understand it Pol Pot used the technique of threatening to
kill Bob unless Bob killed Alice with a pitchfork. Somewhat low-tech.
Zyklon-B it ain't.
Perhaps we should blame those venerable but misguided Asian
philosophers, you know, like Marx, Engels, Lenin, etc."

Whats the utter jaw dropping amazement directed at? The fact that I do not
consider communism to be western but you do? You seem to indicate that it
should be considered 'western' because of the authors of the idealogies
instead of the basis of the idealogy. What do you consider 'western' ideals
to be? Most people rank freedom, tolerance, independance, market economies,
etc. into 'western' ideals (while these traits are not perfect, they are
better than non-western idealogies, such as fundamentalist islamic regimes).
Communism had none of these, no freedom, no respect for the individual, etc.
therefore I do not consider it 'western', but I suppose it all depends on
what you mean when you say 'western'.
