The interesting thing is that the White House doesn't seem to be
noticing the effects this has on the image of the US. Just like
the signals sent by the US struggle with the ICC (which gives
everybody else the impression that US soldiers are expected to
commit atrocities), it really amplifies the rouge nation image of
the US. My guess is that the current administration is suffering
from a case of foreign policy groupthink not unlike the one that
caused the Bay of Pigs fiasco. But this time the stakes are much
higher.
