Actually, I have a paper about that on my desk right now: Peter Oberg &
Lars Tornstam, Youthfulness and Fitness - Identity Ideals for all Ages?
Journal of Aging and Identity, vol 6. No. 1, 2001

They did a survey of how old people considered themselves to feel, how
old they wished they were and how old they thought they looked. It turns
out that most both feel themselves to be younger than they are, that they
wish they were even younger and that they think they look younger. The
difference between chronologic age and internal age seems to increase
linearly over time; by 75 people feel themselves to be 55. And I guess we
on this list will be even more extreme.
