energy is a major issue in my part of the country- it could be a major
economic boon for South Dakota), or hydrogen powered cars. Some of them
think that space exploration is a waste- but then again, both of the chapters
of the National Space Society that I've attended meetings of were dominated
by pro-space Democrats (and, in the case of one of the groups, the chapter
president was, strangely enough, a Green). They tend to have mixed feelings
about nuclear energy, but they'd almost universally agree that it's a better
option than coal.>>
There are certainly pro-space dems, and dems for energy research, which is
frankly, why I voted for Boring Al, last time, rather then George Bushes son.
Wind energy may, in fact be a boon to many farmers and ranchers in the
comming years. Or it may be a boondoggle. For nuclear to be a better bet then
coal, it must beat research into COČ removal at LANL, and it must be proven
safer and less costly. NPR tends to put out unfavorable stories about
"frankenfoods".Technology should have no political preference, but it does,
as you have pointed out.
<<In your characterization presented here, you are talking about the extreme
left, whom almost all the liberals and leftist moderates I know disagree
with. I have a problem with people who take the extreme voices (a tiny
minority) and try to portray them as the popular opinion.>>
The Extreme Left tends to lead the regular left, which influences those
liberals, who are themselves moving left. So the Euro greens are the trend
for the Left in the USA. If you have TV companies like CNN aping the BBC,
this is almost a sure bet, and CNN does ape the political philosophy of the
BBC. The Democratic Party, for a variety of reasons, may be diminished and
replaced by a new 3rd party that is more centrist. This will be a long tome
in comming.
If you wish to see a political 'bell weather' for the USA, please look at the
lack of public outrage, when green vandals wreck crops.
