In the roots of racism is ethno-centricism. The roots of ethno-centricism is
fear either of loss of status or being attacked. I am guessing that post
1914, the UK ethnocentrist, would've shuddered at the Germans taking up the
white man's burden, or the Russians (which many at the time would have been
an oxy-moron), their allies.

Unless there is a singularity (unlikely anytime soon) or an explosion of
products and energy being produced by uber technologies (read-in nanotech), I
contend that there will be no big jump in Extropian appeal, because you
cannot produce the tangibles like housing, food, jobs, electronics, travel,
et al, that would qwell the appeal of ethnocentricism and nationalism.

To quote the Kaiser, "We Germans demand our place in the sun.." The contrast
might be, if a German, or a Korean, can live anywhere in the world, and live
well, and securely, then their place in the sun will always be assured.
Technology and the "new" economy hasn't delivered that kind of world yet, and
it may not for several generations to come. If this contention is true, then
there will be war for generations to come.
