Absolutely! That's why it's so infuriating to sit through
idiotic nonsense imparting total blame to one side or the
other, or grossly oversimplifying the situation along
ideological lines. This is a problem that deserves some
serious rational thought; and the foundation of rationality
is simple honesty. Eli's right on target: both sides are
completely nuts, and straightening it out requires setting
some tough standards of sane, rational, honest discourse
and reportage.

Yes, it's a bit rude; but I have no hope of persuading her
of anything--I want to point out idiotic rhetoric to the rest
of the group and hope they use that appropriately to judge the
credibility of its source. Samantha's a tough case--she's
obviously quite bright and has her heart in the right place;
but that's no excuse to hold her to a lower standard of
honest discourse.
