An interesting but brief piece on page A-20 of today's Investors
Business Daily.
Essentially the same people who fought for 30 years in some cases
to establish bi-lingual education are realizing they've made a
mistake. In the words of Joseph C'de Baca a longtime Denver public
school teacher the program "keeps kids bi-illiterate."
In areas where the program was abandoned test scores are up 40%.
The drive to eliminate bi-lingual education is largely being led by
Hispanic parents and educators.
