Hmm, maybe cats are a better simulation of posthuman children - they might
start out highly individual from the beginning, have their own ideosyncratic
views of things and think they have little need to be coddled by a
parent/master. A bit like Yatima at the beginning of Egan's Diaspora. Of
course, human children quickly develop all the above traits fairly quickly
too :-)
