I programmed MACRO-11 on earlier PDP-11 forms (PDP-11/23 if memory serves),
and liked the architecture, but never used the later (and larger) PDP-11/45
model. Operating systems included MONITOR 6, and later RT-11.
People in the Big Blue sphere called the PDP-10 a "mini computer" even
though the KA-10 system filled a whole computer room. I wonder what
they might have called the PDP-11 line. !-)
Before that, I used a PDP-7/9 (essentially the PDP-7 contained a PDP-9, but
you had to pay $$$ to have a DEC field service guy connect a cable from inside
the CPU to a switch marked "7" and "9" on the console :-).
PDP-11: MACRO-11, ODT-11, BASIC, FOCAL
PDP-7: MACRO-7, FORTRAN II, Autocode (precursor to COBOL).
I have the PDP-4 source for the first interactive LISP by L. Peter Deutsch.
Maybe somebody will write an emulator for PDP-4 so one can run the original?
=)
