True, but many did blame or went on to the [correct] conclusion that there
is no God.

Do you think religions, old and new, in the former Soviet Empire and in the
PRC have more followers now than before on the %age basis? (Also, I think
any idea that is suppressed is bound to have some people behind just because
it's suppressed.) Some of the nations with the highest rates of atheism are
former communist ones, such as Albania.
