Bill Joy (and Rodney Brooks) were interviewed via realtime sat link by an
upmarket Aussie national current affairs program last nite. (Inevitably I
bit my lip at the sight of the reporter so deeply impressed by these
unheralded goshwow ideas that the buggers had declined to interview me
about, lo these three years ago when THE SPIKE was being promoted--but so
it goes.) I found Joy's manner media-impressive - impressively impassive,
as it were, articulate (most of the time, although he got a tad flustered
at least once and retracked the canned line in the same, now slightly
inappropriate words). But a really nice suit, not a bad haircut (or
piece?), quite the contrary of the mad scientist crying doom, as he cried
doom.
