SPACE FOR THE 22ND CENTURY
NASA officials predict that regular human habitation of other
planets is likely by the year 2100. Row Rogacki, space
transportation director at Marshall Space Flight Center, says
the key will be "safe, reliable, affordable transportation." To
that end, NASA engineers are trying to design higher-energy and
lower-cost propulsion systems. Others are studying how faster-
than-light travel might be possible.
