I suspect that those people who, upon uploading, want to control input to
fit their ideal world regardless of truth, will end up being seduced into
some infinite positive feedback VR. Only those who consistently value truth
over everything else will be able to resist the temptation to devolve into
synthetic solipsism, which will be implicitly available from many sources as
the media evolves to match itself to our needs and desires. Thus, in the
long run, and probably not so very long, those people who want to live a
nice lie will be permanently gone from the active scene, carried along like
those nonsense genes that serve no real purpose but are too evolutionarily
costly to be selected out, but forever silent and dead in the real world.
