Oh, I guess there's a misunderstanding .... Did people think that
I meant I took almost 20 years for a PhD? That's funny. No, I've been
working now in the astronomy field for 18 years. It was my
make-a-living job(s). I hit astronomy from every angle, even as a
consultant (astronomy consultants are rare, I imagine.)
The schoolwork, I did on the side, and not even all the time. For
example, I was convinced for at least 10 years that I didn't need a
PhD. (I have very good reasons). So, no my total time to complete a
PhD here in Germany will be 3 years (since I have my Master's degree
already).
