Telnet defunct? That's a surprize to me--I'm typing this message
in "vi" over a telnet connection right now (I use elm, though,
rather than pine). It's also something of a security measure; I
don't want all my mail from various lists going through company
servers, so I telnet out to my Unix host and use elm from there.
