Actually, it is only recently that infibulation of girls was
explicity made illegal. I love the strained language of the law:
"...infibulates...the labia minora...of any person under 18..."
Apparently, Western Judeo-Christian forms of ritual child abuse
are OK, it's only the Muslim forms that qualify as felonies, making
this one of the few laws--despite its careful language--that is
both sexist and racist at the same time.
