Crime is at least ten times higher in Massachusetts than in in New
Hampshire, despite nearly equal population densities.

This is incorrect. According to Encarta (www.encarta.msn.com) the area of New
Hampshire is 9283 square miles. The area of Mass is 9241 square miles, or
virtually the same. However the population of NH is only 1,172,709 (1997 est)
and the population of Mass is 6,117,520. Therefore the population density for
NH is 126.32 ppsm, for Mass. 661.99. This is quite a significant difference.
