Yep. "Finity" by John Barnes is excellent. As is "Flashforward" by
Robert J. Sawyer, and many other books by him ("Factoring Humanity", and
"Frameshift" off the top of my head.). James Halprin wrote "The First
Immortal" and "The Truth Machine" which are really great reads.
