A simple way to side-step the battery cost, fragility and range problems
is to make the batteries in modules that can be winched up into a car.
Quick-change batteries widely available in service stations have no
disadvantages of range, charging speed etc.
They're still heavy, though. Oh well. But, since one needn't own them,
they can also require trained service or special equipment.
