In reply I can only hazard a guess by saying that there seems to be an enormous gulf between the social (soft) sciences and the physical (hard) sciences and they bitterly resent any attempt by the one to tresspass on the turf of the other. Richard Dawkins foray would be regarded with great suspicion by social scientests as a result of this mentality. This is unfortunate because it retards the development of both
