Even if that's true (and in the age of the Internet,
that's far from certain), you don't have to transport
the whole civilization at once--you can create it from
scratch in a century or two starting with, say, 30
or 40 young, healthy, genetically diverse women and
a big dewar of sperm. For the first few generations
you only need enough technology to survive, breed,
and educate.
